Billing Date Change for Cuckoo Customers
Billing Date Change for Cuckoo Customers
Overview
As part of our migration to a new billing platform, some Cuckoo customers will see their monthly payment date change. Going forward, Direct Debits will be collected on the last working day of each month.
Your service, package, contract and monthly price are not changing. The only change is the date we collect your Direct Debit each month.
Why is my payment date changing?
To support our new billing system, we’re moving all customer payments to a standard billing schedule. Going forward:
Your Direct Debit will be collected on the last working day of each month.
Your invoice will be issued before the payment is collected, giving you time to review it.
This change only affects the timing of your payments. Your service and agreed monthly charges remain the same.
Why is my next bill higher than normal?
When we move your payment date, there might be a gap between your last invoice period and your new billing date. To bring your account onto the new schedule, your next invoice will include:
Pro-rated days — the days between your last billing date and the new payment date.
Your next monthly charge paid in advance, as normal.
This means your next invoice may be higher than your usual monthly bill. This is a one-off adjustment — after this, your bills return to their normal monthly amount.
before the June cut-off.
Example
If your monthly package costs £25 and your current billing date is the 10th:
Your last bill under the old schedule covers up to 9 June 2026.
The gap is 10 June to 30 June = 21 days.
June has 30 days, so the daily rate is £25 ÷ 30 = £0.833/day.
Pro-rated amount: 21 × £0.833 = £17.50.
Plus regular monthly charge in advance: £25.00.
Total next bill: £42.50.
The exact amount will depend on your monthly package price and the number of gap days being billed.
What is pro-rata billing?
Pro-rata billing means charging only for the exact number of days a service has been used. Rather than charging a full month, we calculate a daily rate and charge only for the additional days needed to align your account with the new billing date.
The daily rate is calculated by dividing your monthly price by the number of days in that calendar month. If your gap days fall across two different months, each portion is calculated separately using that month’s own day count (for example, June uses 30 days, July uses 31).
This ensures you only pay for the service you’ve received and are not charged twice for the same period.
Will my bill stay higher every month?
No. The higher invoice is a one-off adjustment while we move your account onto the new billing schedule. After this invoice:
Your bills will return to their normal monthly amount.
Your monthly payment will continue to be collected on the last working day of each month.
Is my monthly price increasing?
No. This is not a price increase. Any increase you see on your next invoice is due to the one-off pro-rata adjustment required to move your account onto the new billing cycle. Your monthly price is not changing.
Is my Direct Debit changing?
You may notice a small change to the name shown on your bank statement. The Direct Debit reference may change from “Cuckoo Fibre Limited” to “Cuckoo”. This happens automatically and does not require any action from you.
