Can I have Digital Voice if I have a burglar alarm or telecare system?

Some telecare devices and monitored alarm systems were originally designed to work with the traditional landline phone network.

Because Digital Voice uses your broadband connection instead of the old phone network, some older equipment may require adjustments or upgrades to continue working correctly.

What you should do before switching
If you use any of the following devices, we recommend contacting your provider before moving to Digital Voice:

• Telecare or lifeline alarms

• Personal health pendants

• Monitored burglar alarms

• Security alarm systems connected to a phone line

Your device provider will be able to confirm whether your equipment:

• Works with Digital Voice

• Requires an adaptor

• Needs to be upgraded or replaced

If you have already switched to Digital Voice
If you have already moved to Digital Voice and your alarm or telecare system is connected to your phone line, please contact your alarm provider as soon as possible.

They will be able to check that your device continues to work correctly.

Important information for vulnerable customers
If you rely on a telecare device or alarm for safety or medical support, it is especially important to confirm compatibility before changing your phone service.

If you are unsure what to do, our support team will be happy to help guide you.
