How switching works
You only deal with us. We talk to your old provider for you.
-
1. Check your contract
Use the checker above. Your current provider sends you your contract end date and any fee for leaving early.
-
2. Choose your package
See what's available at your address, then order online. It takes a few minutes.
-
3. We arrange the switch
We tell your old provider you're leaving and agree a switch date. You don't need to call them.
-
4. Your new broadband starts
On your switch date, your Onestream broadband starts and your old service ends.
What is One Touch Switch?
One Touch Switch is the way you change broadband provider in the UK. You contact the provider you're moving to, and they arrange everything with the provider you're leaving.
Before you switch, your current provider must tell you what switching means for you. That includes any fee for leaving early, and what happens to other services on your account, like a home phone or TV.
Still in contract?
You can still switch, but your current provider might charge you for leaving early. Your switching details show the fee, so you can compare it with what you'd save.
If the fee is too high, wait until your contract ends. Switching after your end date usually means no fee for leaving early.
Questions about switching
-
No. We arrange the switch with your old provider for you. They end your service on the day you move to Onestream, then send you a final bill.
-
Yes. Virgin Media uses One Touch Switch, like other UK broadband providers. Virgin runs its own cable network, so your new broadband might need an engineer visit. We'll tell you when you order.
-
No. The check is free, and it doesn't cancel or change anything. Your provider sends you your switching details, and you decide what to do next.
-
No, we don't cover exit fees. Your switching details show any fee for leaving early, so you can decide if switching now is worth it. If it isn't, you can switch after your contract ends.
-
We'll give you a date for your new broadband when you order. Your old broadband stays on until that date.
-
If you have a home phone with your old provider, it usually ends when your broadband switches. If you want a home phone with us, add Digital Voice when you order.
-
No. One Touch Switch is for changing provider at the same address. If you're moving, order broadband for your new address and tell your old provider you're leaving.
-
Usually one detail doesn't match your provider's records. Check your surname is spelled the way it is on your bill, and use the address where your broadband is installed. Adding your account number can also help.
