The good news is that does exactly what it says – switching from another provider to Onestream is now as simple as getting in touch with us, and we’ll handle the rest.
What is One Touch Switch?
Some time back Ofcom, which regulates telecoms and broadband companies, decided to do something about the frustration we’ve all felt when it comes to switching broadband providers.
Under the old system, a customer often had to inform their current provider that they wanted to switch, arrange a date for that to happen, contact the new provider, and hope the two of them lined up and didn’t leave either a gap in service, or a period of paying twice.
That’s a lot to handle, and meant that switching was often stressful and time consuming. Although we are proud of our record of switching customers to Onestream with the minimum of fuss, we’re sure that some customers were put off by all the hassle.
Faced with all of that, some people who wanted to switch broadband providers just decided to stick with the one they had. Those people lost out on our great deals, coverage, and speed!
Thankfully, Ofcom decided that the system should be much simpler and that’s why, on September 12, 2024, One Touch Switch became the new standard for residential broadband customers.
How does One Touch Switch work?
It’s really easy to switch now. Put simply – you tell us you want to switch, and we do the rest. That’s really it. You’ll soon be enjoying Onestream, and there’s no need to contact the provider you’re leaving.
Behind the scenes, a new system puts the provider that is winning your business in touch with the provider you’re leaving, so they can exchange details and make the switch happen seamlessly. You really don’t have to do anything else.
One Touch Switch especially speeds things up when you are switching providers which use different fibre or cable networks. All providers now talk to each other through the same platform, and the customer benefits from this ease of communication.
It’s all so simple – but if anything should go wrong, the regulations say that customers should be compensated, so you’re protected in the unlikely event of a problem.
